Reflecting on Past and Present Leadership

I think I've grown in my leadership position over the years, but I never fully considered the potential for sabotage from detractors. My focus was always on the positive aspects of my role, and I rejected the notion that there could be individuals who would work against me. Looking back, it's clear that I should have been more aware of potential backstabbers and those who might want to trip others to succeed at my expense.

My mindset has shifted. Instead of thinking about how I can change the world around me, I believe in enabling those around me to reach their highest potential, rather than imposing my own ideals on them.

Inspiring True Change

The programming of people can be transformed from negativity to positivity. Imagine replacing hate with love, differences with similarities, sympathy with empathy, capitalism with humanitarianism, and judgment with justice. These shifts can create a more harmonious and compassionate society.

However, it's important to recognize the limitations of what we can change. The quote, "A genius becomes mad because he tried to change the things. A hero becomes a villain because he wants to change the things," highlights the futility of attempting to force change. Instead, I believe true leaders should work on changing themselves and inspiring others to do the same.

The Servant Leadership Model

One of the most transformative models of leadership is the servant leadership model. True leaders do not dictate every step of the process, but rather, they serve their team members. They aim to clear the way, encourage support, and provide guidance. This approach often leads to better outcomes than the charismatic but often problematic boss model.

Charismatic leaders often create emergencies or "burning platforms" to justify giving orders. Servant leaders, on the other hand, focus on empowering their teams and supporting them in their endeavors. The results speak for themselves: teams led by servant leaders tend to perform better.

Personal Reflection and Change

Some leaders might think, "What can I really change?" The answer is, there are countless things in the world that need improvement. However, the most significant change we can make is within ourselves. By striving to be better individuals, we can then positively influence those around us.

If a society is hurting, the solution is not to change the society but to change ourselves. When we face challenges, instead of trying to change external circumstances, we should focus on transforming our own lives. For instance, if you're feeling overwhelmed by your situation, consider isolating yourself for a while to gain perspective. By focusing on personal growth, we can lead by example and inspire positive change.

Remember, when faced with large-scale issues, it's important to take a step back and consider the bigger picture. Sometimes, the most effective way to make a difference is not by trying to change the world, but by starting with ourselves. In the end, the true measure of a leader's success is not in their ability to change the environment, but in their capacity to foster growth and development in those they lead.
