The Year of Fear: A Personal Journey Through COVID-19

2022 was a challenging year for many individuals, and fear was a predominant emotion. This article delves into a personal account of a journey through the fear of the unknown and the impact of COVID-19 on a family.

Introduction to the Fear and Impact of COVID-19

As we reflect on the past year, many of us experienced unprecedented challenges and fears. Many people lost loved ones, and the fear of losing someone close became vivid. This article shares a personal story of one individual who faced a series of fearful incidents related to the pandemic.

The Unforeseen Sneezing Symptom

The story begins with a simple event on February 10, when my father, who came from the office, started sneezing and had red eyes. At first, it was believed to be a mild cold. However, a few days later, he carried out a home test, but the result was negative. He took some medicine and went to sleep. Around 1:00 am, he experienced a panic attack, which caused concern and fear for all of us. He was having difficulty breathing, but after some time, he recovered.

The Lingering Fear and Quarantine Measures

This incident was the beginning of a series of fearful moments. Days later, both my grandmother and my brothers fell ill. Soon, it seemed like everyone we knew was becoming sick. This uncertainty and fear of the unknown made us question if we were also COVID-positive. We feared that taking a test might cause a heart attack in our father and grandmother, who are particularly sensitive to stress.

Quarantine and Support

With these concerns in mind, we decided to quarantine ourselves and take all necessary precautions. My family consulted our doctor, who provided us with guidance. Although we all hoped for better, there were times when not everyone was feeling well. My father and grandmother kept experiencing fevers and weakness, even 15 days later.

The Healing Process

The month was filled with anxiety and sadness, as we received updates from relatives about the deaths of friends and loved ones. However, I made it a point to keep everyone happy to help them stay positive and away from negativity. My gratitude and thanks go to God for our family's survival. This incident taught me the value of staying happy and appreciating each moment.

Conclusion and Lessons Learned

Everyday life is unpredictable, and we never know what lies ahead. This year of fear has taught us to cherish our loved ones and not take each day for granted.
