Government officials often carry visiting cards issued by their respective departments. These cards typically include essential details such as the official's name, title, department, and contact information. The availability and design of these cards can vary significantly based on the organization and country. For instance, in certain departments, visiting cards may be issued exclusively to high-ranking officials, such as those who are gazetted. The Ashok Stambh emblem, for example, is reserved for gazetted officers in some organizations, like the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO).

In the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), visiting cards are widely available for all officers. However, the guidelines and requirements for the design and issuance of these cards can differ from one government department to another.

Practical Experience

During my service, I was issued a departmental identity card. Interestingly, it was possible to print visiting cards without the emblem or logo of the department.
