The Nightmare of Falling into My Own Drawer: A Late-Night Bedside Adventure
The Nightmare of Falling into My Own Drawer: A Late-Night Bedside Adventure
It was the middle of the night, a particularly dark and scary one as I was at the edge of drifting off to the sounds of thunderstorms and flashes of lightning pouring down rain onto my window. It was probably past midnight, and I was sleeping in a twin bed against the wall that I shared with my sister. Her twin bed was on the opposite side of me. Underneath my bed, I had these two drawers that you could pull out, but that night, I had accidentally left one open. One of my drawers was filled with books, and due to my laziness and being tired, I didn't bother to close it.
A Spooky Night-Time Encounter
During the middle of the night, as I lay in bed, another thunderclap sounded, but it was a particularly loud one that made me flinch. In my state of disorientation, I somehow found myself inside the drawer I’d left open. Yes, I had fallen inside, literally.
The next thing I know, I lazily wake up and get back on my bed, but I do it oddly. I somehow turned my body in such a way as if I were doing a front flip, propped my feet up to the wall, and rolled back inside my drawer. It happened again. Each time I tried to get up, I ended up falling back into the drawer.
Finally, after getting back up, I managed to lay back in bed peacefully. A big round-shaped emoji pillow was in front of me as I fell asleep again. Once I heard another rumbling thunder, my face rose and fell forward, stuffing itself onto my round pillow. I ended up sleeping in that position that entire night and couldn't move my neck for the next three days.
Lessons Learned from This Spooky Experience
As terrifying as this experience was, it taught me an important lesson about the importance of safety and the potential consequences of carelessness, especially at night. It's a stark reminder to always check and close drawers, especially in a panic or during moments of sleepiness.
How to Prevent Such Incidents from Happening
Here are some tips to help prevent similar incidents from occurring:
Double-check before sleeping: Always ensure that drawers and doors are securely closed before you go to bed. Be cautious: If you need to access something under your bed, wake up fully and perform the task carefully. Install safety measures: Use drawer locks or install safety catches to prevent any accidental falls. Avoid distractions while moving: Try not to move or pull out drawers while half-awake to reduce the risk of accidents. Conclusion
While this experience was undoubtedly spooky and memorable, it highlights the importance of safety and the potential dangers of carelessness. Here’s to staying safe and keeping our homes secure—especially at night.
