The Next President: Can We Hope for an Improvement?
The Next President: Can We Hope for an Improvement?
Can the next president be better? The answer, I can assure you, is a resounding yes, for they could not be as worse as the current one.
Hope for a Better President
The question of whether we can hope for a better president in the next term is profoundly conflicting. Supporters of Trump may argue that he is the best we could ever hope for, while advocates of the left contend that any candidate would be better than the current one.
As for myself, I firmly believe that voters should take the time to thoroughly examine each candidate's curriculum vitae and actions rather than just their rhetoric. However, even with such due diligence, a section of the country will remain dissatisfied, and another will be elated.
Decades of Political Evolution
However, there has been no unassailable proof for a better president. Unless we somehow resurrect the likes of President Lincoln, Jefferson, Adams, who remains highly underrated, or even Kennedy with all his imperfections, who was an excellent leader and a conservative.
Presidential Progress and Modern Context
President Trump represents the peak of a political movement that has been in existence since the 1990s. This movement signifies a desire for real change from the institutions and assumptions that have largely dominated American and global politics since the end of World War II. The collapse of the USSR in 1991 marked the actual end of the WWII era, and the changes in demographics, economics, and technology since then have left the WWII era institutions outdated and irrelevant.
The political, academic, media, and bureaucratic classes who controlled these institutions chose to manipulate them in their favor, exploiting the working and middle-class taxpayers. The electorate's backlash, particularly after the possibility of a third-term for Hillary Clinton, resulted in a historic "Flight 93 election," where the Populists managed to gain significant influence.
The election of President Trump marks a clear break with the "Progressive" past, and MAGA (Make America Great Again) represents an explicit challenge and defiance against the Progressives and their actions. If Progressives manage to use their power against the working and middle-class taxpayers, the consequences might indeed be dire, as projected in various analyses, but this is worse for the working and middle-class Americans and their counterparts around the world who voted for Brexit, nationalist governments in Poland, Hungary, and Italy, or the protesters of the Mouvement des gilets jaunes in France.
Pathway to a Better Administration
A "better" administration for the Populists would see the dismantling of the administrative state and the creation of new structures and institutions within the confines of the Constitution. These new institutions would be responsive to the will of the electorate and capable of addressing pressing contemporary questions. Given the increasing bankruptcy of the Progressives in terms of morality, intellect, and finance, as well as government debt and unfunded liabilities, supporting the Populists for a "better" next president and administration seems a wise choice.
Let's look to the future, where we can hope for a leader who listens to the needs and desires of their constituents, and works towards a more equitable and prosperous society.
Follow-Up Questions
What are the key factors that voters should consider in choosing the next president? How can the current political landscape influence voter behavior in the upcoming elections? What are the potential outcomes of this election and how might they impact the future of our society?
By addressing these questions, we can better understand the complexities of the upcoming presidential election and the potential for a better future under a new administration.
