The Length of Love: How Far Are You Willing to Go for True Love?

Love is a powerful force that can often push us to do extraordinary things. In my case, I have been willing to travel great lengths and risk sacrificing my comfort and safety pursuing love. This article will explore the lengths one can go for a special someone, and when it is too far.

Traveling Across Borders for Love

During my youth, I hitchhiked across the USA and traveled to any country for a romantic interest, even if it meant subjecting myself to risky situations. I was willing to undertake these challenges with little or no money, and faced significant hardships.

At the age of 40, I was determined to find a spouse by traveling to any country if I had the means. My strict moral principles kept me grounded, and I could not compromise on values such as stopping a spouse from selling illegal drugs or beating children. Even smoking was an insurmountable issue for me, and converting to a religion for marriage was out of the question.

Settling Down in the Countryside

Despite my various travels, I found that city life did not suit me. I moved to India from Canada and faced racism in both countries. Bangalore seemed more peaceful, but I still did not feel at home. Eventually, I realized that settling down and getting married in the countryside of my grandpa’s home in Punjab would be the best option. His house, left behind when he moved, now represents a place where I can find peace and start a family.

Balancing Love and Reality

While I am willing to make sacrifices for love, I do have limits. Once I recognize that what I am pursuing is not love, I will leave it alone. I do not believe that love should involve sacrificing ourselves. Love does not require us to).

Experiencing such extremes in pursuit of love has taught me that there are limits to what we should do for love. Sacrificing ourselves or going to uncomfortable lengths for love is unnecessary and often detrimental.

Waging War or Finding Peace?

The journey through these experiences has been long and sometimes harrowing. However, it has brought me a level of fulfillment and happiness that I did not expect. The longer I remain committed to finding true love, the more I feel that my efforts are worthwhile.

Love may lead us to beautiful destinations, but sometimes these destinations are not defined by distance. They reflect our emotional and spiritual journeys. Regardless of the challenges, the pursuit of true love is a journey worth embarking on.
