The Influence of Millennials: A Generation Paved with Change and Awakening

As a member of the Baby Boomer generation, I have a deep-seated belief that when the millennials take the reins of power, they will bring about social changes that have never been seen before. These changes will not only be profound but also for the betterment of society. However, it's crucial to understand that the 'before' era, which marked significant shifts, often gets overshadowed or overlooked. It is imperative that we delve into the historical context to truly appreciate the impact of the past and how it shapes the present and future.

Historical Context: Lessons from the Past

For someone like me, who is 74 years old, the aftermath of pivotal assassinations—such as those of JFK, RFK, and MLK—along with the Vietnam War, played a significant role in shaping the cultural and social landscape. The media propaganda on both sides during this period also added to the societal divide and confusion. Additionally, the introduction of the birth control pill, drugs, and the free love movement during this time were profound markers of societal change. These events undoubtedly impacted young adults at the time, and I suspect that their full impacts are often underappreciated or underestimated.

The Millennial Financial Context: A Growing Divide

The financial well-being of millennials is a complex issue. While individual earnings have remained largely stagnant over the past 50 years, there is a notable earnings gap between millennials who have completed college and those who have not. Similarly, household income trends for young adults markedly diverge depending on educational attainment. On the other hand, when it comes to household wealth, millennials seem to have accumulated slightly less than previous generations had at a similar age.

These economic challenges present a significant barrier for millennials, contributing to a growing generational divide and raising concerns about equality and opportunity.

Generational Impact and Prediction

It is important to recognize that isolating a generation solely based on its inherent characteristics or capabilities does not accurately predict its actions or outcomes. Predicting the future based on generational traits is a risky proposition. For instance, who could have foreseen the rise of anti-vaxxers, the storming of the U.S. Capitol, and the ongoing debates surrounding truth and reason?

Future Outlook: A Generation Guided by Intuition

Delve further into esoteric and spiritual realms, and one might find a different perspective. Imagine a generation that is more intuitive, attuned to the universe, and deeply connected to the principles of reincarnation and karma. Such a generation might intuitively understand that hate is a useless emotion, leading to a lasting peace on earth. This perspective suggests a shift in societal values and a deeper understanding of interconnectedness.

True knowledge, as articulated by Meher Baba, is the understanding that the true self is in everything and everyone. This belief can lead to a profound change in social and personal behavior, fostering peace and unity.

The idea that we create the world with our own imagination is an empowering thought. If this is the case, then every individual, including millennials, plays a crucial role in shaping the world they inhabit. Understanding and embracing this concept can inspire positive change and a harmonious future.

In conclusion, while the millennials are often seen through the lens of economic challenges, there is also potential for them to bring about significant social change. By understanding the context and embracing a more intuitive and spiritually informed approach, we might see the emergence of a generation that truly makes a difference for the better.
