My Business Philosophy and Example

I own a group of 35 private companies. My business was founded over 40 years ago on the principle of personal integrity. If I discovered that you lied on your resume 10 years ago and you were now a VP, you would be fired immediately! There are a lot of things that I give second chances for, but dishonesty isn't one of them.

As a temp recruiter many years ago, I placed a guy in a temp purchasing job. They loved him so much that after 3 months, they hired him. When hired, they asked for a copy of his resume. The only copy they had was the one I provided with my company logo on it when he went in as a temp. They needed one from him to verify his information as his presentation, not mine. Three weeks after he was hired, he was called into the boss's office, and with HR present, he was terminated for giving false information on his resume. It seems he stated on the resume that he had a degree in engineering. The background check performed showed he did not. The really stupid thing about this was that no degree was required for the job, and all he had to do was delete the education from the resume he presented to them.
