Strategic Time Management for Successful Preparation of SSC CGL Exam

Many individuals interested in the SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam often inquire about an effective preparation schedule, especially when balancing work. Here is a detailed breakdown of one approach to managing time efficiently during the preparation period.

Disclaimer: Personal Experience

My preparation approach focused predominantly on revision and mock tests, as I had already taken the CGL exam in 2022. Additionally, the benefit of working from home helped to save significant time.

Daily Routine

5:00 AM - 5:30 AM: Start the day by improving typing skills while listening to exam hall noise on YouTube (Jisse Neend Udd Jaye).

General Studies Revision

6:00 AM - 8:00 AM: 2 hours dedicated to General Studies revision.

English Revision

8:00 AM - 8:30 AM: Half an hour of English revision.

English Madhyam Mock Analysis

8:30 AM - 9:30 AM: An hour devoted to analyzing English Madhyam mock tests.

Maths Calculation Quiz

9:30 AM - 10:00 AM: Half an hour for a QA quiz focusing on mathematical calculations.

Breakfast Office Lunch

10:00 AM - 2:00 PM: Breakfast followed by a lunch break when working in the office or from home.

Full Mains Mock Test

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM: 2 hours dedicated to a full mains mock test, when office work is less demanding.

Work from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM:

4:00 PM - 6:00 PM: Full work engagement.

6:00 PM - 6:30 PM: Half an hour to analyze the mock test results.

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM: Finish the work day.

New General Knowledge Lecture

7:30 PM - 9:00 PM: 1.5 hour focus on a new General Knowledge lecture.

Dinner Reasoning Math

9:00 PM: Dinner.

Rest of the Time: Rest of the evening is dedicated to practicing reasoning and mathematics.

Around 10:30 PM - 11:00 PM: Ich lengthen study period includes reviewing one previous year's question paper right after or before bed.

Strategy and Planning

To clear the SSC CGL exam in 6 to 7 months with 4-5 hours of daily study, regularity, smart study, and revision are crucial. Mock tests are essential for gauging performance and improving standardized test-taking skills. For those who are university students (UG or PG), the time commitment might be higher, around 6 to 7 hours per day. The key is to make the most of the time available and continuously improve problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ultimately, the approach depends on the amount of time you can dedicate, your learning capacity, concentration level, and the strategies you adopt. A structured plan and consistent effort will significantly enhance your chances of success in the SSC CGL exam.
