Salary and Benefits of a New Nursing Officer at AIMS

The salary and benefits package for a new nursing officer at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) can vary based on several factors including location, experience, and specific job roles. As of my last update in August 2023, the starting salary range for a fresh nursing officer at AIMS is typically between 40,000 and 60,000 INR per month, depending on the pay scale and allowances applicable at the time.

Gross Salary Breakdown

For a more detailed understanding, let's break down the components of the starting salary:

Starting Basic: 44,900 INR

This is the base salary component.

DA (Dearness Allowance): 17%

The DA is calculated as 17% of the basic salary:

DA (44,900 * 17)/100 7,633 INR

HRA (House Rent Allowance): 24% (for X-class cities)

HRA is calculated as 24% of the basic salary in X-class cities such as Delhi and Mumbai:

HRA (44,900 * 24)/100 10,776 INR

Nursing Allowance: 7,200 INR

This allowance is provided specifically to nursing officers.

Washing Allowance: 1,800 INR

Additional allowance to cover the cost of providing clean uniforms and other nursing attire.

Transport Allowance: 3,600 INR (for X-class cities)

This allowance covers the transportation costs for commuting in X-class cities.

DA 17%: 4,212 INR

Calculated as 17% of the basic salary:

DA (44,900 * 17)/100 4,212 INR

Combining all these components:

Total Salary 44,900 7,633 10,776 7,200 1,800 4,212 76,521 INR per month

This translates to approximately 918,252 INR per annum.

Government Contributions and Additional Benefits

The government also contributes to the NPS Tier 1 Account of the nursing officer with 10% of the Dearness Allowance (DA). This amounts to:

10% of DA (7,633 * 10)/100 525.3 INR

This contribution adds another 63,036 INR to the Yearly Cost to Company (CTC).

Aside from this, nursing officers are also eligible for:

1. Tuition Fee Reimbursement:

A lump sum of 54,000 INR per annum is provided for the education of 2 children.

2. Bonus:

Additional bonuses are provided ad hoc, typically up to 23,000 INR per annum, or a one-time 6,774 INR ad hoc bonus.

3. DA Increase:

The DA is usually increased twice a year, 6 months apart, based on government announcements.

4. Increment:

There is an incremental increase of approximately 30% of the basic salary in a year.

Bonus and Allowances

A comprehensive package also includes:

Home Town Tickets:

Home town tickets are provided for the first 3 years, and all-India tickets in the 4th year, given in a block of 4 years. This continues for a total of 8 years. After that, tickets for the family are given once every 2 years if the employee is single; otherwise, tickets are given every year.

In summary, the Total Cost to Company (CTC) can be calculated as:

CTC 918,252 63,036 54,000 6,774 1,042,062 INR

For more accurate and current information, it is recommended to check the official AIMS website or contact their Human Resources Department, as salaries and benefits can change and be updated frequently.
