Review of NTT Data in India: Insights and Comparison with Itelligence

NTT Data, a renowned global IT service provider, has a strong presence in India. This article delves into the experiences of both current and former employees, providing a comprehensive review of the company. By comparing it with Itelligence India, we explore the changes and challenges faced over the years.

Positive Aspects of NTT Data in India

Many employees appreciate the collaborative and inclusive culture at NTT Data. This company promotes diversity and encourages teamwork, fostering an environment where employees feel valued and supported.

NTT Data offers various training programs and opportunities for skill development, which significantly contribute to career growth. These initiatives help employees advance in their careers and enhance their professional skills.

A notable positive aspect is the work-life balance. Employees often mention flexible working hours and the option for remote work, allowing them to maintain a healthy work-life equilibrium.

Compensation and Benefits

While opinions on salary can vary widely, many employees feel that the benefits package, including health insurance and retirement plans, is competitive. The overall compensation package makes NTT Data an attractive employer in the Indian market.

Areas for Improvement

Management Practices

Some reviews point to inconsistent management practices. Employees suggest the need for improved communication and greater support from higher management to address these issues effectively.

Project Allocation

Project allocation has been a concern for some employees. There is a need for better alignment with individual skills and career goals to ensure that each employee can grow and develop in their role.

Salary Competitiveness

While the benefits package is generally well-regarded, some employees feel that salaries could be more competitive compared to industry standards. Frequent comparisons with competitors may lead to dissatisfaction unless these areas are addressed.

Review of Itelligence India

I worked at Itelligence India from 2013 to 2015, during a time when it was still known as Itelligence. To that extent, it was an excellent company to work for. It had less office politics, a flat organizational structure, numerous implementation projects, great management, and competitive salaries with regular hikes.

However, the situation changed significantly after Itelligence acquired VCentric and merged it into NTT Data Business Solutions. The culture has been adversely affected. Projects were segregated into different regions, leading to a division between consultants. Top performers were sent to the US and Europe, while 'average' and 'poor' performers were retained in the India pool.

A significant issue arose when an inexperienced 30-year-old was appointed to manage the India pool. This change in management disrupted the work environment, leading to a decline in zeal and enthusiasm. The company now rarely sends employees on-site, making international opportunities scarce.

Salaries and promotions are no longer superior to the rest of the industry. The previous flat organizational structure is now more hierarchical, with managers providing diplomatic responses to feedback. Overall, NTT Data in India has lost some of its appeal.

Conclusion

Overall, NTT Data in India is viewed positively by many employees, especially due to its work culture and career growth opportunities. However, individual experiences can vary greatly based on team dynamics and management practices. Comparatively, Itelligence India underperformed post-acquisition, negatively impacting employee morale and prospects.

For those considering joining NTT Data, it is essential to evaluate the current working environment and management practices. The company may still offer valuable opportunities for career growth and skill development, but potential employees must be aware of the areas that need improvement to make an informed decision.
