Necessity of Writing All 4 Papers in CA Group-2 New Syllabus Even After Passing Group-1

In the context of the Chartered Accountant (CA) examination in India, if you have passed Group 1 under the old syllabus, you still need to complete all four papers in Group 2 under the new syllabus. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) generally requires candidates to adhere to the current syllabus for their remaining papers. Therefore, regardless of your past performance in the old syllabus, fulfilling the requirements of the new syllabus is necessary.

Adherence to the New Syllabus

The ICAI has a standard set of requirements that must be met by all candidates to progress in the examination process. As a result, if you have already passed Group 1 under the old syllabus, you will need to comply with the new syllabus for Group 2. You must complete all four papers included in the new syllabus. It is always advisable to confirm the latest guidelines from the ICAI or your coaching institute as policies are subject to change.

It's important to understand that even if you have passed Group 1, you are still required to write the papers in Group 2 under the new syllabus. The ICAI maintains a consistent approach to ensure all candidates follow the updated guidelines and standards set by the institute.

Group 2 Under the New Scheme

Under the new scheme of CA Group 2, there are three papers. If you have already passed Group 1 under the old syllabus, you have cleared the Costing paper, which is Paper 4 in the new scheme. Hence, you only need to give Papers 5 and 6 under the new Group 2 syllabus. The passing criteria for these papers are as follows:

40 marks in each paper 50 marks in aggregate, which is 100 out of 200 marks in total for Papers 5 and 6

Exemptions and Carry-Forward Policies

For candidates who have passed Group 1 under the old syllabus, there is an option to carry forward exemptions in any of the papers of Group 2 in the old syllabus, except for ISCA (Indian School of chartered Accountancy). It's important to note that ICAI has granted exemptions where applicable, and candidates may not need to write all four papers if they have already completed certain requirements.

In summary, while there are exemptions available, you should consult the latest ICAI guidelines or your coaching institute for specific instructions and ensure you comply with the updated requirements for Group 2 under the new syllabus.

Stay informed and prepare accordingly to progress smoothly in your CA journey.
