My Journey to a Healthier Weight: A Personal Story

Weight gain nowadays is a common issue, impacting many households. In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, maintaining a healthy weight has become a challenge due to factors such as poor eating habits, sedentary jobs, family responsibilities, work overload, and even pregnancy. However, from my personal experiences, I can confidently say that adopting a healthier lifestyle can simplify the process of losing weight drastically. Patience and commitment are key, and I hope to share my weight loss journey with you all.

My Weight Gain Struggles

Back when I was getting married, my weight was a mere 37 kg. I was quite thin, but over time, I reached a weight that could be considered my "ideal" at 45 kg. This was a comfortable stage for me, and I felt content.
However, in 2011, when my first child was born, my weight surged to 55 kg. The added stress and physical demands of motherhood took a toll on my physique. In 2016, my second child brought my weight to a heavy 70 kg, and I felt increasingly uncomfortable and unwell.

My life became challenging as I felt extremely exhausted after minimal work, struggled to climb stairs, and experienced shortness of breath. The pain in my knees while ascending stairs was another distressing factor. My weight loss journey thus began with these troubling signs of a heavier, less healthy self.

Adopting a Healthier Lifestyle

Upon recognizing the issue, I embarked on a journey to improve my health. I started by transitioning my lifestyle and habits to align with a healthier plan. Here are some of the adjustments I made:

Daily Diet Adjustments

Every morning, I drink a morning tonic. If I am unable to do so, I opt for warm water with lemon. Increase in the consumption of green vegetables and fruits. I switched to dry vegetables instead of gravy-based ones and added homemade masala to vegetables, improving their flavor and nutrient content. Reduction in the intake of rice and sugar, and opting for a protein-rich diet to manage hunger levels easier. Consuming detox water, lemon water, apple cider vinegar, and ensuring to drink more water throughout the day. It is crucial to not drink water immediately after meals; instead, wait for about an hour after eating.

Eating Habits

I completely minimized the intake of fast food and only consumed home-cooked meals. Previously, I enjoyed multigrain bread, which is now homemade. Eating home-cooked, wholesome meals has been a significant shift and a healthier choice for me.

Physical Activity

Though my weight increase made simple tasks like walking challenging, I found comfort in dancing. Every day, I would dance at home for 30 to 40 minutes, which not only boosted my mood but also contributed positively to my weight loss journey.

Results and Reflection

Through patient effort and the incorporation of these healthier habits, I managed to lose weight. My journey has turned me into the healthier version I wanted to be. Now, I am in a much better shape and feel more energetic and motivated.
