My Journey: SSC CGL 2019 Preliminary Score and Strategies

Hi, everyone! I am thrilled to share my experience of taking the SSC CGL 2019 preliminary exam and discussing in detail my scores and strategies. My outcome on the March 3rd, 2019, third shift was 138 (raw score), and I can confirm that it was one of the toughest shifts this year.

March 3rd, 2019, Third Shift

This was the day of my CGL pre-exam, and it was a tough one. Here are the details of my performance:

Mathematics: Attempted 18, got 34 (17 correct) General Studies (GS): Attempted 23, got 23.5 (13 correct, 5 incorrect) English: Attempted 25, got 50 (25 correct) Reasoning: Attempted 25, got 50 (25 correct) Total score: 157.5

Given the level of difficulty, I was not fully satisfied with my performance, especially in the mathematics section. However, the overall score of 138 is within the acceptable range considering the tough nature of the paper.

March 6th, 2019, Second Shift

On this day, I took the second shift of the CGL pre-exam while I was battling a fever of 102°F. Here are the details:

Reasoning: Attempted 31, got 31 General Studies (GS): Attempted 37, got 37 Mathematics: Attempted 43, got 2.5 (43 wrong, wrong answer key) English: Attempted 40, got 40 Total score: 1512.5

Although I attempted many more questions, the Mathematics section was disastrous. Despite my average performance, I was somewhat relieved with my overall score of 1512.5.

March 4th, 2019, First Shift

I took the first shift on March 4th, and here are my scores:

Reasoning: Attempted 46, got 46 General Studies (GS): Attempted 15.5, got 15.5 Mathematics: Attempted 15.5, got 15.5 English: Attempted 40, got 40 Total score: 117/200

My overall score of 117 was below average, and I was even contemplating applying for the RRB NTPC if the Mains wasn't great. However, I am hopeful that normalization will play a significant role.

General Analysis and Expectations

It's important to note that the March 3rd shift was one of the toughest, as confirmed by many candidates. The average score that day was 121. Therefore, I am expecting a normalization of at least 30 marks. For candidates scoring above 115 in this tough shift, clearing the cut-off is not a concern.

Based on the previous experience of many candidates and the difficulty level of the paper, I believe that my score of 138 is quite commendable and I am hopeful for a positive outcome in the cut-off.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the preliminary scores for SSC CGL 2019 were a reflection of a tough exam. Despite the challenges, all candidates who prepared diligently have a chance to achieve their goals. Always stay positive and focus on your preparation for the Mains. Lastly, keep your fingers crossed for the positive normalization!

Best of luck to everyone taking the SSC CGL 2019 Mains!
