My IBPS Clerk Pre-2021 Preparation Insights
My IBPS Clerk Pre-2021 Preparation Insights
IBPS Clerk exam preparation is no less daunting compared to appearing for more high-profile banking exams like SBI PO or IBPS PO. While this article sheds light on my preparation journey, it's important to note that my approach and experience might differ from others. This article also discusses a unique mock test that was part of the preparation, emphasizing its significance due to the rarity of opportunities to clear such tests. Whether you are gearing up for the clerk exam or considering the higher PO positions, this insight can provide valuable perspectives on preparation timelines and confidence building.
Preparation Challenges and Opportunities
One of the primary challenges during my preparation was the steep competition and the rarity of clearing certain tests with a perfect score of 80/80. Such rigorous mock tests serve as an excellent simulation for the actual exam, ensuring candidates are well-prepared and reduce the elements of surprise on exam day. The high level of difficulty in these tests underscores the importance of thorough preparation and focus during the study period.
Exam Experience: 18th and 19th December 2021
18th December 2021, Saturday
The reporting time was 1:00 PM, and I reached the examination hall nearly 30 minutes early. The atmosphere during the exam was relaxed, and I used the time to reflect on my previous attempts, particularly the SBI PO and IBPS PO exams where I fell short by a couple of marks.
When the exam began, the English and Numerical Aptitude sections were relatively easy, but the Reasoning section posed a significant challenge. I encountered difficulties with the initial reasoning questions and ended up skipping them. However, that decision turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as the exam ended up being easier than initially perceived. I managed to clear the Gujarat state cutoff of 72 by just one mark, demonstrating that a minor error can significantly impact the outcome of the exam.
Exam Analysis
My Exam on 19th December, First Shift
Compared to the previous year, this year's exam was easier, with no new question types. The English section was straightforward, but para-jumble questions were absent from my shift. Reading comprehension options were confusing, creating a time-consuming experience. Mathematics was also manageable, with quadratic equations and arithmetic questions as the primary topics. The reasoning section was typically easy, but my weakness in syllogisms meant I was only able to answer one question out of three. However, the overall experience for the reasoning section was positive.
Section Wise Performance
I made an attempt of around 80-85 questions. Here is a breakdown of my performance:
English: 28 attempts with no significant comments on accuracy Quantitative Aptitude: 25 attempts, 99.99% accuracy Reasoning: 33 attempts, 99.99% accuracyExpecting a score of 75, I aimed for a balanced performance across all sections, ensuring accuracy over speed.
Valuable Lessons and Advice
For those preparing for the IBPS Clerk Mains or the next PO exams, it's crucial not to wait until the results are announced to start preparations. Starting early and maintaining consistent practice plays a pivotal role in achieving a competitive edge. Additionally, it's essential not to lose hope or confidence even if you face challenges during the exam. The mental preparedness and a positive mindset can significantly influence your final performance.
