As a fresh graduate, choosing the right company can be a daunting task. This article aims to provide insights into the choices available between TCS, Cognizant, and Infosys, based on the offers received and various key factors that might influence the decision-making process.

CTC Offerings for Freshers

TCS

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is considered one of the most prominent companies in the tech industry. They offer a range of profiles to their fresh graduates, including TCS Ninja, TCS Digital, and TCS Innovator. The CTC offered for these profiles are as follows:

TCS Ninja: 3.36 LPA TCS Digital: 7 LPA TCS Innovator: For candidates from Tier 1 colleges: 9 LPA For other candidates: 11 LPA

Additionally, TCS offers a 60k incentive cash, which depends on the performance in the IntelliJ Premier Aptitude Assessment (IPA). Employees who score above 55 get 40k, while those above 80 get 60k. Furthermore, candidates from Tier 1 colleges are eligible for the Innovator profile, but those from other colleges can upgrade to Innovator after completing the Ninja and Digital profiles.

Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS)

Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) offers a variety of roles tailored for fresh graduates, with CTC varying based on the profile:

GenC: 4 LPA GenC Elevate: 4.5 LPA GenC Pro: 5.4 LPA

The CTS selection process for these profiles is based on performance in the aptitude and interview rounds. Candidates with better scores are offered higher roles.

Infosys

Infosys also provides opportunities for fresh graduates in various roles:

System Engineer: 3.6 LPA Digital Specialist Engineer: 6.25 LPA Specialist Programmer: 9.5 LPA

The CTCs for Infosys are relatively higher compared to CTS, but the pay for the Digital Specialist Engineer role is notably lower than TCS Digital.

While CTC is an important factor, it's not the only one. Other key aspects like work culture, location, and onsite opportunities should also be considered:

TCS offers a stable and secure environment with comprehensive benefits, including medical insurance and regular salary hikes. The company emphasizes job security, which is a crucial consideration for many fresh graduates. In contrast, CTS pays slightly more but requires better performance in aptitude and interview rounds to secure higher roles. Infosys, while offering higher CTC, has faced recent issues with management and employee retention, making it a less favorable option at present.

Internship and Onboarding Process

After securing an offer, the internship and onboarding process can vary among these companies:

TCS: Provides an internship followed by employment upon completion. TCS is known for its structured training programs and comprehensive onboarding. CTS: The process is more flexible and performance-based, with opportunities to upgrade roles through internal exams. Infosys: Given the recent issues, the onboarding process may be more challenging and uncertain.

Conclusion

Considering the above factors, I chose to go with TCS for my full-time role. While CTS offers slightly higher CTC, TCS offers job security, better perks, and a more stable work environment. On the other hand, Infosys is currently facing significant issues and is not recommended at present.
