Journey to CA Final: Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Success
Reflections on My UPSC Mains Experiences and Journey to Success
As someone who has taken the UPSC Mains twice, I can share a wealth of insights and experiences that can help aspiring candidates. My first attempt in 2022 was a significant milestone, filled with hope and expectation. Despite scoring 680 without much preparation, I realized that there was still much to gain.
From First to Second Attempt: A Path of Improvement
My marks in optional geography were less than satisfactory, yet there was an opportunity to significantly improve my score. Armed with this realization, I intensified my preparation for the 2024 Mains. The road ahead was uncertain, but I was determined to give it my best shot.
Dealing with Setbacks: The Loss of Trading Profits and UPSC Preparation
Back in 2021, my journey began with trading, where I managed to make substantial profits. Life, however, had other plans. I lost all my money and went into debt, facing significant challenges such as people calling me a gambler and experiencing a range of other negative labels.
Despite these adversities, I found a new path in UPSC preparation, thanks to the unwavering support of my parents and a few very understanding friends. This period taught me invaluable lessons about resilience and the reality of failure and success.
Laying the Foundation: First Attempt in 2022
For the 2022 attempt, I aimed to be well-prepared. I completed the Mains syllabus four months before the exam and used the last four months for revision and prelims preparation. Contrary to popular belief, completing the syllabus before the prelims can significantly increase the likelihood of success. This strategic approach paid off in my prelims performance, where I answered 68 questions with an accuracy of around 55-57 correct and about 11-13 incorrect.
Sustaining Momentum: Second Attempt in 2024
For the 2024 attempt, I nailed my prelims by focusing on answering as many questions as possible and working on speed and logical thinking. Mugging up information was crucial for the main exam. I conducted meticulous revision and answer writing practice, which proved effective.
The Mains exam was a reflection of over six months of hard work. The result was a mix of hope and anticipation, with the ultimate goal of seeing my name in the final list. Whether the result turns out to be positive or not, the journey itself has been celebrated, and the battle continues until I secure that meaningful name.
My story is a testament to the importance of mental strength, clear preparation, and unwavering determination. If you're preparing for UPSC or facing similar challenges, remember that every setback is a setup for the next big success.
Conclusion: Reflections and Advice
Attending the UPSC Mains is more than a test of knowledge; it's a test of will and mental fortitude. I hope my experiences can inspire and guide those who are on a similar journey. Keep pushing, stay positive, and believe in yourself. The world is waiting for you, and your name will be among the successful ones.
