Finding Joy and Fulfillment in Your Role: Tips and Insights
Are You Happy in Your Role? What Could Make It Better?
Thanks for asking, but to be honest, I am not fully satisfied with my role at the moment. I am a wife and a mother now, and my day starts with responsibilities. I am happy to be busy all day. However, with kids around, there is always a lot to do, and time seems to fly by. What I want to do is exchange thoughts and ideas with my family members, but the reality is, I find it difficult to connect with them in this environment. If I were to work outside, I wouldn't have this amount of time to spend with my family. Talking, playing, and reading with them is a blessing in my life.
Embracing Life’s Journey with a Positive Mindset
Yes, I am happy, and my mantra to remain happy is to embrace life's journey. Life is a journey in a cruel world where we don't know the paths, roads, or even the destinations. We have to be ready for whatever comes. Being strong and never giving up is another mantra to enjoy your journey.
Now, you need to make it your own journey, play a role, but do not be someone else. It's important to create your own identity and let it grow.
Chasing Joy in Every Job
While I am extremely happy with my current job, it does have its unique challenges. I wake up in the morning, have breakfast, and then do my stock picks before going back to sleep again and again. It might sound monotonous, but I am happy because I am doing what I love. The selection of a job matters more than working for money. Yes, money is important, but spending your life in a good way is even more important than making a lot of money just for the sake of it.
Just try engaging with your job instead of seeing the bad in it. Focus on the good aspects and walk into the positive aspects of your job. This can bring a good feel to you and help you find joy in your daily tasks.
Lessons Learned from a Retired NASA Contractor
I have been retired for 11 years now, but there is one thing I always found lacking as a contractor with NASA. NASA's input into my annual job evaluation with my company was crucial. Their input would have greatly affected my manager's strict performance criteria and couldn't be ignored. This is a lesson for anyone who wears two hats working for one entity but answering to another. It is essential to have a clear and open communication channel to ensure both entities are aligned and working towards the same goals.
No matter what role you are in or where you are in your life's journey, finding joy and fulfillment in your work is crucial. Whether you are in a full-time job, freelancing, or retired, the key is to embrace the role that brings you happiness and joy. By doing so, you can create a fulfilling and satisfying life, both personally and professionally.
