Exploring Safe and Best Places to Stay in South Korea as a Tourist

South Korea, much like Japan, offers a safe environment for tourists to enjoy its rich culture, historical sites, and modern cities. Understanding where to stay and ensuring a safe atmosphere is key to planning an enjoyable trip. This article highlights the best and safest places to stay across Seoul, Gyeongju, and Busan.

General Safety Perception

After spending approximately one week in South Korea, I can confidently say that all regions, including Seoul, Gyeongju, and Busan, present a similar level of safety. The overall impression is that South Korea is one of the safest places to travel for tourists. It is akin to the safety levels found in Japan, where incidents rarely catch the notice of the general public.

Seoul: Exploring Central Areas

For those visiting Seoul, my recommendation would be to look for accommodations in central locations, preferably near metro stations. This central proximity ensures not only convenience but also a sense of security. I personally chose to stay on Yeouido Island, which is quite central and offers quick access to the National Assembly.

One day, after a long walk, I found myself near the National Assembly Building, which I had not noticed earlier. The neighborhood I stayed in felt reassuringly safe. The central location allowed me to explore various tourist attractions without compromising on my safety.

Gyeongju's Ancient Charm

While in Gyeongju, my hotel was conveniently situated just a short walk from ancient burial mounds. This proximity to historical sites added to the charm of the area, making it not only interesting to visit but also providing a serene and safe environment. Gyeongju is renowned for its rich history, and staying so close to these ancient sites ensures that tourists can easily access and explore them.

Busan's Vibrant Atmosphere

In Busan, my accommodation was located near the main railway station. The proximity to the central railway station made it easy to get around the city and also provided a good base from which to explore the city. The neighborhood around the railway station was also safe, making it a suitable choice for staying in Busan.

Conclusion

Overall, South Korea offers a wide range of safe and enjoyable accommodation options. Whether you're looking to explore central Seoul, the historic sites of Gyeongju, or the bustling city of Busan, there are neighborhoods and areas that align with your preferences and safety concerns.

By choosing a central location for your accommodation, you can enjoy a balance of convenience and safety, making your trip to South Korea more enjoyable and stress-free. Whether you are traveling solo, with family, or in a group, South Korea presents a welcoming and safe environment for all tourists.
