Cracking the SSC CPO Exam in 2020: Effective Strategies and Tips
Hello, aspiring candidates! Today, I am sharing my experience and the strategies that helped me clear the SSC CPO exam in 2020. My journey began in February 2020, and I followed a methodical approach to crack each section of the exam.
Mathematics
I joined the special math batch of Mr. Gagan Sir, and I managed to complete it within 5 months. My focus was not just on solving exercises but on practicing each sheet twice. Regular revision of formulas and formulas sheets was my daily routine, ensuring I mastered the subject well.
English Comprehension
For English, I initially joined the batch of Mr. Gopal Verma Sir, but I found it less effective for me. So, I shifted to a more personalized approach. I started dedicating more time to vocabulary and reading comprehension, a total of 2 hours and 1 hour respectively, every day. Practicing error spotting from Mirror of Common Errors and vocabulary from Ravi Bajaj Sir’s resources helped me significantly. Thanks to these focused efforts, I managed to score 32 marks in the English section.
General Knowledge (GK)
While working on General Knowledge, I followed a structured approach. After completing the theoretical part, I would practice with quizzes from Grade Up. This helped me in covering a wide range of topics and getting familiar with the question patterns. Supplementing this with monthly Grade Up current affairs, which is entirely free, helped me in collecting static portions from Lucent’s publications. This combination proved to be quite effective.
Reasoning
Reasoning was the section that most candidates found daunting. However, solving the best mock test series available on Grade Up tremendously boosted my confidence. I tackled these tests diligently and managed to score 35 marks in reasoning, a quite pleasant score.
Concluding Thoughts
In summary, the key subjects that require more focus are reasoning and mathematics. These are the scoring areas. On the other hand, General Awareness might be unexpected, so it’s not advisable to invest too much time in it. While English is moderate, dedicating ample time to vocabulary and reading comprehension can yield significant results.
Lastly, taking mock tests regularly is crucial. I used Grade Up’s comprehensive mock test series, including all previous years and 10 new tests. This was instrumental in bringing my overall score to the qualifying marks. I hope these strategies and insights help you in your journey towards success. Best of luck!
