Cracking the RBI Assistant Exam: A Journey of Dedication and Unyielding Determination
Every aspiring professional dreams of achieving success and standing out in their chosen field. My success story of cracking the RBI Assistant exam is a tale of steadfast preparation, unwavering motivation, and the perseverance needed to overcome challenges. This article will explore the journey I undertook, the strategies I employed, and the lessons I learned along the way.
Preparation and Ruthless Focus
The RBI Assistant exam is highly competitive, demanding both speed and accuracy. It is an objective-type exam, and to excel in it, one must undergo thorough preparation. Taking coaching in recognized exam institutes can significantly enhance your answering speed, which is crucial for success. The key to success lies in a balanced approach: maintaining a high level of accuracy while ensuring you can answer questions quickly.
Wmeldung and Motivation
My success in the RBI Assistant exam began in 2015 when I saw the notification. However, I was ineligible at that time because I was still studying for my graduation. Nonetheless, my passion for government exams and the central banking sector kept me motivated. After completing my graduation in 2016, I wholeheartedly dedicated myself to preparing for bank and insurance examinations.
In November 2016, the RBI Assistant Notification came. I started preparing intensively right away. On 7th November 2016, I applied and gave the preliminary exam, attempting 88 questions and easily clearing it. The main examination, however, was a different story. Despite my best efforts, I scored 110.75 out of 200, just below the cut-off of 111.50. This was undoubtedly one of the most heartbreaking moments in my life.
Gaining a Second Chance and Overcoming Adversity
Despite the setback, my aspiration to work for the RBI remained strong. In 2017, I joined Bank of India as a clerk and subsequently NIACL as an assistant. These positions brought me some initial solace, but my heart still yearned for the RBI job. The Diwali festival of 2017 brought both joy and renewed hope. My brother gifted me my favorite smartphone, and while setting it up, I stumbled upon the notification for the 2017 RBI Assistant exam.
Even though I was skeptical, my dream did not give up on me. I applied and attempted the exam, but my performance did not live up to expectations. I attempted only 71 questions and lost hope when I knew the cut-off would be higher than my attempts. To my surprise, I made it to the final list with a score of 74.25, the lowest in the general category in the country.
Challenges and Controversies
After clearing the exam, I faced another round of challenges. The LPT (Language Proficiency Test) results were one of the most concerning issues. Mumbai Office candidates were rejected on the basis of LPT, sparking controversy and legal action. The court case dragged on for almost 1.5 years, causing immense stress and uncertainty. Simultaneously, personal and professional life challenges added to my mental toll. It seemed like 2018 was a year of severe trials.
Despite the setbacks, I never gave up. I prepared for various other examinations, including ESIC, NIACL, and IBPS PO. In ESIC, I was successful and received my home posting. While the job was good, it did not fulfill my aspirations. In 2019, the RBI exam finally reached a resolution. On May 28, I received the news I had been waiting for, making it to the final list for the Mumbai Office of the RBI Assistant.
Conclusion and Lessons Learned
Cracking the RBI Assistant exam was a journey filled with both triumphs and tribulations. It taught me the importance of preparation, resilience, and unwavering determination. The experience has not only brought me closer to my dream but has also instilled in me a strong resolve to continue achieving my goals.
Success is not just about the destination but the journey taken to reach it. Every challenge faced and overcome is a step towards becoming a better version of oneself. The journey of one and a half years may seem long, but it is a small victory in the broader context of one's life. Achieving the position of a central banker has been a testament to my dedication and hard work, fulfilling a dream that spanned nearly four years.
Thank you.
