Celebrating Independence: July 4th 2019 and Beyond

In anticipation of the Fourth of July celebration in 2019, I am hoping to mark the end of our Tory government. It will be confirmed on the fifth of July, but for now, let me embrace this time with gatherings and joyous moments.

A Fourth of July Get-together

There is a group of us planning a celebratory get-together, filled with laughter and nostalgia. One of our friends will be hosting a BBQ to reminisce about the old times and discuss the political landscape. While some of us may indulge in political discussions, conversations are often passionate and heartfelt, reflecting on the road we have traveled.

Fourth of July Without Posting

This year, I will not be engaging in social media as usual. Instead, I wish everyone a wonderful Independence Day and invite you to celebrate with your loved ones.

A Creative Alternative to July 4th

I considered engaging in an alternative activity this Independence Day. One idea was to dress up as a Redcoat and distribute reparations. While this idea was intriguing, it was met with a 'nope.' After careful consideration, I made a decision to explore an alternate destination, head to Canada, and educate people about colonial times.

Understanding the Redcoats

It is fascinating to learn that Red Coats refers to the British military. During the Revolutionary era, the term came from the bright red coats worn by soldiers, which stood out on the battlefield due to the dense black smoke from muskets. Interestingly, military jackets for the Red Coats were designed with detachable buttons that attached with hitch pin clips, making it easier to remove them during washes and allowing for custom button configurations.

Planning for Future Activities

While focusing on history and education, I will not neglect my personal goals. I am currently working at a bank in Srisailam and have several plans lined up. Tomorrow, I will visit a nearby school to witness the flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a visit to the Srisailam dam, where the water inflow is high due to recent floods. The place is exceptionally beautiful and makes for a great spot to relax. Afterward, I will enjoy dinner in a local restaurant before gearing up for an early start to attend the coronation of King Charles III, as he will be presented with the Scottish Crown Jewels.

Other Celebrations

While I am focused on these activities, let me share some broader ideas for celebrating July 4th:

BBQ Get-together: Organize a family or friend event with a delicious BBQ and plenty of conversation. History Lessons: Educate yourself and others about the redcoats and colonial history through books and documentaries. Flag Hoisting: Join local flag hoisting ceremonies at schools or public spaces. Virtual Celebrations: Participate in online events or watch historical reenactments.

Celebrate this Independence Day with a blend of education, community engagement, and personal enjoyment. Happy July 4th!
