Introduction to the Topic

Recently, I've noticed a change in the gym shower room, where more men are grooming their lower body, trimming or shaving the hair in the groin area. Contrary to the common notion that this is a trend primarily observed among mid-aged and younger men, I have also seen elders participating in this process. This raises the question: Is this indeed a new trend, and if so, what are the reasons behind it?

Senior Grooming Preferences

As someone in early 60s, I have no interest in following the trend of removing all body hair to make my body look like a nine-year-old. I am a regular at the gym and the swimming pool, and in my experience, there is very little evidence of shaving or trimming among males of all age groups, from teens to nearly 90.

Personal Experiences and Perspectives

Auburn (29 Years Old)
I believe that body hair removal is not a new trend for men. Starting from my teenage years, I have been shaving my groin area since I was 15. My brother and most of my friends have also adopted this practice. Therefore, I cannot consider this a new trend, as it has been a habit for many men, including myself, over the years.

While some might argue that shaving the groin area has become more prevalent, it is indeed true that more men are opting for a more groomed appearance in both hygiene and cosmetology. The reasons for this are multifaceted, including hygiene, personal preference, and the changing standards of beauty and cleanliness. Furthermore, some women may prefer intimate encounters with a more shaved or trimmed male partner, a trend that has long been followed by adult women. Personally, I find no issue with a woman's hairy intimate area, as long as her hygiene is maintained well.

OldFart50 (39 Years Old)
I began shaving my groin area at the age of 13 but had to stop due to bullying at school. After leaving school, I resumed this practice, only to be forced to stop once I joined the UK military in 1980. However, over the past three years, I have started using Nair hair removal cream, highlighting the changing attitudes towards personal grooming. As I age, my habits will likely remain the same, and one day I expect to see all elderly gym-goers shaved, regardless of their age or current grooming practices.

Conclusion

While the grooming habits of both men and women are continuously evolving, it is important to respect diverse choices and personal hygiene standards. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to body hair removal, and individuals should feel free to adopt or avoid such practices based on their own preferences and comfort levels. Whether it is a matter of personal hygiene, cultural norms, or a simple preference for a more groomed appearance, it is crucial to understand and respect the choices individuals make for themselves in the ever-changing landscape of grooming trends.
