In contrast, 3.5 billion years of life on Earth far surpasses the mere 200 years of modern human thought or the 100,000 years of medieval or 290,000 years of hunter-gatherer contexts. Animal survival strategies have enduring success, whereas recent human lifestyles are yet to prove their longevity. Our ancient origins as hunter-gatherers for 290,000 years are respectable but still younger than any other species. In comparison, 100 and 200 years of modern life barely scratch the surface of evolutionary time.
Considering the staggering duration of life on Earth, it's clear that we have a unique and unprecedented existence. We are a unique and proven survival strategy, and our journey as a species is far from over.
